The consent log
Every choice a visitor makes in the banner is stored as proof of consent. Open a domain and go to its consent log.
What is stored
Section titled “What is stored”| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| Consent ID | A random key, also shown to the visitor in the banner. |
| Date and time | In UTC. |
| Choice | Accept all, Selection or Deny. |
| Categories | The categories allowed. Necessary is always included. |
| Banner version | The published version the visitor saw. |
| IP address | Anonymised: the last part of an IPv4 address becomes 0 (203.0.113.0); of an IPv6 address only the first 48 bits are kept. |
| Browser | Only a hash of the user agent, not the user agent itself. |
The scanner’s clicks are never stored.
Find and export
Section titled “Find and export”- Statistics: choices over the last 30 days, with a chart of accept, selection and deny per day.
- Search by Consent ID, when a visitor or an authority asks about a specific consent.
- Filters by choice and by date.
- Export CSV downloads the records that match your filters, for your records or an audit.
What the visitor sees
Section titled “What the visitor sees”After choosing, the visitor has a small round button at the bottom-left of the page. It opens Your consent: what is allowed, the Consent ID and the date, and Change choice. A new choice is stored as a new record; earlier records stay.
If a visitor withdraws consent for a category whose scripts already ran, the page reloads so they stop.
